Dr Ashish Saini is a leading expert in Laser BNI in India. He has successfully performed numerous procedures, achieving outstanding results and patient satisfaction. What is Laser BNI?
Laser bladder neck incision (also known as laser bladder neck contracture incision or laser bladder neck reconstruction) is a surgical procedure used to treat bladder neck contracture (BNC), which is a condition characterized by the narrowing or scarring of the bladder neck. This narrowing can obstruct the flow of urine from the bladder to the urethra, causing urinary retention, difficulty urinating, and other urinary symptoms. During the procedure, a urologist uses a laser to precisely remove the scar tissue or obstructing tissue that is causing the bladder neck to narrow. This allows for widening of the bladder neck and improved urinary flow. The laser energy is directed with precision, minimizing damage to surrounding tissues and reducing the risk of complications.

- Initial Examination During your initial consultation, we will conduct routine blood tests to assess your kidney function and perform a preoperative evaluation. Subsequently, we will schedule a cystoscopy procedure to precisely identify the location, length, and severity of the affected area.
- Before the Procedure It is crucial to thoroughly discuss all pertinent details regarding the surgical procedure, potential complications, and anticipated outcomes. Dr. Ashish is available to provide expert guidance and support throughout this process.
- Day of the Procedure
- Please refrain from consuming any food or beverages for a minimum of 10 hours prior to your surgical procedure. Kindly bring all of your previous medical records with you. The anesthesiologist will conduct a thorough medical history assessment to determine the appropriate anesthesia plan.
- Step Process of the Surgery
- A resectoscope is inserted into the urethra with the aid of anesthetic gel for lubrication. The resectoscope has irrigation fluid flowing through it. The thin laser fiber is then passed through the resectoscope, and typically two incisions are made in the bladder neck, through the prostatic tissue. This immediately alleviates the constriction and obstruction of urine flow. A catheter is then placed to facilitate urine drainage.
Will I be Awake during the procedure? A regional anesthesia will be administered. A needle will be inserted into your back, and a solution will be injected to numb your body from the waist down. You will remain conscious but may feel drowsy. However, you will not experience any discomfort during the operation.
After the Procedure You will be conscious and transferred to the recovery room. Dr. Ashish Saini will assess your condition and provide you with post-operative instructions. Subsequently, you will be moved to your designated room for an overnight stay. Upon returning to the ward, you will be permitted to consume food and beverages. It is essential to have a designated caregiver to assist you in returning home. You will be discharged with a catheter in place to facilitate healing and ensure proper urine drainage. We recommend that you rest for a period of 3-5 days. In some cases, you may experience mild pain, minimal blood in urine, burning sensation, or pinkish urine. A follow-up appointment is necessary 3-5 days after the procedure for catheter removal and medication review. You can resume your normal routine within one week of the procedure.
